Producer James Cameron and director Tim Miller have already set a release date for the sixth Terminator movie.

The movie will be out in the summer of 2019 and it will be set in an alternate timeline different to what we have seen in Terminator Genisys.

As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, the release date for the new Terminator film is July 26, 2019.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton are set to return, although it has been noted a young female lead will be cast. Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor is set to pass the torch to the newer character.

Since this movie is a direct sequel to Terminator 2: Judgment Day, it will forget the events of Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys. James Cameron spoke more about it to THR. You can read his comments posted down below.

This is a continuation of the story from Terminator 1 and Terminator 2. And we're pretending the other films were a bad dream. Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multi-verse. This was really driven more by [Tim] than anybody, surprisingly, because I came in pretty agnostic about where we took it. The only thing I insisted on was that we somehow revamp it and reinvent it for the 21st century

This is somewhat similar to what 20th Century Fox has been doing with its X-Men franchise.

Since X-Men: The Last Stand disappointed everybody, 20th Century Fox made an alternate timeline thanks to a time travel storyline to branch out a new set of movies.

Hopefully Terminator 6 (or whatever it will be called) ends up being a great movie.

Only the first two movies are good while the rest of them have been really disappointing. At least with the sixth film, most of the original crew is back.
