Producer William Orbit is coming to the defense of Britney Spears, after an unedited version of 'Alien,' one of the songs off her "Britney Jean" album, leaked causing disgruntled critics to lash out against the pop-star.

"Warming up is essential if you're a pro, as it is with a runner doing stretches, and it takes a while to do properly," said Orbit during his first defense for Spears who has yet to comment on the leak according to EOnline.com.

Orbit later released a statement saying, "Autotune has always been a hot-button topic. Not as much as the issue of photoshopping in the fashion press. But more than say, the use of CGI, looping and stunt doubles in the movies...Regardless of the fun and games that we have with studio production, the main thing to keep in mind with Ms.

Spears is that tens of millions (hundreds of millions?) of people enjoy the music. That's pretty much the be-all and end-all of it. And charisma is charisma, no software ever invented can manufacture that."

Spears' has been producing hits despite the constant chatter over her singing ability over the years.

Orbit does have a point with dissecting other uses of editing, but do fans really want to have music that has been heavily autotuned? Do music fans expect more than movie goers of fashion lovers? That is a topic for a debate, so far Spears has not give any explanation as to why there is such a big difference between the edited and unedited version of 'Aliens' but one can only imagine that it is a sensitive subject for the pop princess.
