'Suicide Squad' Hung Strong Over Labor Day Weekend While 'Star Trek Beyond' Dominates

The box office numbers for the weekend of September 4, 2016 are in and Star Trek Beyond dominated while Suicide Squad held its own, almost a month after its original release date.

Star Trek Beyond raked in an incredible $39.5 million worldwide, meanwhile, Don't Breathe had a strong weekend domestically with $15.7 million. Suicide Squad stayed strong at number two on both the domestic and worldwide box office lists.

"Paramount's 'Star Trek Beyond' beamed up an out of this world opening of $31.3 million in China for an overall international weekend of $37 million in 40 markets, thus propelling its international total to $131.1 million and its global cumulative to $285.3 million," according to comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.
