Despite facing some stiff competition (as well as mixed word of mouth), Star Wars: The Last Jedi is still going to be the highest grossing movie over the Christmas holiday period.

As reported by BoxOfficeMojo, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is expected to earn around roughly $68 million over the traditional 3 day period.

Even though this is a 68 percent drop from opening weekend, it's not too bad since most people don't go to the cinema on Christmas Eve.

In North America, more people go to the cinema on Christmas Day itself and The Last Jedi is expected to earn more than $100 million over the 4 day weekend.

The movie is still doing well even though it's the most divisive movie in the franchise.

The new releases coming out for the Christmas holiday period are also doing well against Star Wars: The Last Jedi Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will earn $65 million in total by the end of Monday.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is doing well for a sequel that came out 22 years after the original.

Not to mention The Rock himself will be happy since he had a rare misfire earlier this year when Baywatch was a flop.

Pitch Perfect 3 is also doing well as it will earn $27 million over the four day period.

20th Century Fox's The Greatest Showman isn't earning as much as the other new releases at it will only receive $18 million since it came out on Wednesday.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see the final Box Office total for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

It won't beat the gross of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it is on track to get money than Rogue One last year.
