Star Wars: The Last Jedi Flies Past Wonder Woman At The Box Office

Despite the divisive opinions people have about Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there's no denying the film is very profitable for Disney. The movie has now made more money at the Box Office than the universally praised Wonder Woman.

As highlighted by Box Office Mojo, Star Wars: The Last Jedi has now grossed over $423 million in North America alone. This is higher than the $412 million that Wonder Woman received earlier this year.

On a worldwide standpoint, The Last Jedi has now earned $843 million which overtakes the $821 million that Wonder Woman grossed. The new Star Wars film is now the second highest grossing film in 2017 in North America and the third best worldwide.

The huge Box Office numbers show that the movie's divisive nature might be smaller than initially thought. If it truly had bad word of mouth, the movie would have been making less money than it currently is.

The movie now only has to pass Beauty and the Beast which grossed $504 million in North America and $1.263 billion worldwide. The Fate of the Furious is second at the worldwide Box Office earning $1.235 billion.

The Last Jedi is expected to surpass both these milestones as it's currently projected to earn $1.6 billion at the Box Office making it the fourth highest grossing movie of all time.

The movie won't be able to catch The Force Awakens, Titanic and Avatar in the $2 billion and more club though.

Personally, I had some issues with The Last Jedi although I liked the film overall. I cannot wait to know how the trilogy will conclude when Star Wars: Episode IX releases in December 2019.
