The official runtime for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has now been confirmed by the movie's director Rian Johnson.

It is set to be the longest movie in the entire Star Wars franchise. It should answer all of the questions that were left hanging at the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Rian Johnson spoke with IGN France confirming that the film is indeed 150 minutes long. This could be a good thing since it is enough time to allow the movie to add lots of important scenes and action sequences.

It also means Johnson didn't have to cut or delete many scenes either.

Attack of the Clones was the previous longest movie in the Star Wars franchise. That movie is 142 minutes long. The movie felt like a drag when it came out in 2002 as it featured many romance scenes and political talk.

The next longest movie in the mainline series is Revenge of the Sith clocking in at 140 minutes long.

This movie was a big improvement over Attack of the Clone featuring more exciting action and Anakin's turn to the dark side. That said, the film still isn't as well received as the original trilogy.

Hopes are high for Star Wars: The Last Jedi because Disney and Lucasfilm have a lot o faith in Rian Johnson.

Johnson will be back directing even more Star Wars films in the near future. Johnson will be responsible for both writing and directing an even newer trilogy set in another galaxy that doesn't have any Skywalkers.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi releases in North America on December 15th, 2017.

It is set to be the biggest movie out this year and is likely going to earn a lot of money at the Box Office.

Even though the film is 150 minutes long, it's not as lengthy as the Lord of the Rings movies which were all 3 hours.
