Even though we just had Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Solo: A Star Wars Story is releasing this May, Disney is not slowing down its rate of giving us one Star Wars movie per year.

Work is already going at a steady progress for the next chapter in the franchise called Star Wars: Episode IX.

Episode IX director, JJ Abrams, has confirmed during an interview with The Late Show with Stephen Colbert some more updates on his progress for the movie.

It looks like there will not by anymore additional delays needed in order to get movie the finished.

Abrams revealed that he has finished writing the script for Episode IX and he had a great time writing it with Chris Terio.

Terio won an Academy Award a few years ago for adapting the script for Argo and has recently worked on both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League.

Aside from the script being finished, Abrams also confirmed that filming for Episode IX begins at the end of this July.

This means we might know some more details of the movie later this year since it is still scheduled to be out in December 2019.

Episode IX was originally going to come out in May 2019, but the film got delayed since Lucasfilm scrapped the movie's first director and writer Colin Trevorrow.

Lucasfilm was said to be very unhappy with Trevorrow's vision of the movie so they got back Abrams instead to finish the new trilogy.

Episode IX is said to mark the final film in the Skywalker saga.

After 2019, we are going to see more Star Wars films, although they will be based on newer characters set in a different galaxy.

Rian Johnson is already working on a new trilogy while Game of Thrones' David Benioff and DB Weiss are doing their own series of Star Wars films in the future.
