Disney and Lucasfilm have officially announced that filming for Star Wars: Episode IX has started and we finally know the full cast of actors that will be in the movie.

An interesting revelation today shows us that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will be back.

Unused footage of Carrie Fisher will be used in Star Wars: Episode IX since the actress died two years ago. You can read JJ Abrams comments about adding Carrie Fisher posted below.

“We desperately loved Carrie Fisher,” says Abrams. “Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII.”

Returning to the movie are "Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd". Keri Russell, Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant have been added to the cast.

Despite his character "dying" in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Mark Hamill has been confirmed to come back to reprise his role as Luke Skywalker. It has also been confirmed that Billy Dee Williams is back to play Lando Calrissian.

Lastly, John Williams is returning to score Star Wars: Episode IX to complete the trilogy. Episode IX will be released in December 2019.
