Unlike many other films in the MCU, a lot of things happened in Avengers: Infinity War that casual fans might not know what's going on.

Not to mention the film ended on a huge cliffhanger that won't be resolved until Avengers 4 gets released one year from now.

Anyway, it goes without saying this article talks about major spoilers that occur in the latest MCU movie called Avengers: Infinity War.

If you don't want to know details about the film's ending, please click away from this post to avoid getting spoiled.

The ending of Avengers: Infinity War is pretty dark and depressing mainly because it has a similar cliffhanger conclusion to the Infinity Gauntlet comic book.

Basically, Thanos achieves his goal of attaining all of the Infinity Stones and wipes out half of living life that lives all over the Universe.

As you might know already, Thanos thinks the Universe has an overpopulation issue and his "solution" is genocide basically.

With half of the population dead, he feels the survivors will have enough resources and food to live prosperous lives without the fear of poverty and starvation.

Since Thor failed to kill off Thanos, Thanos' plan comes into fruition and we see many people from Earth and around the Universe start disappearing.

Some of the characters that disappear include Spider-Man, Black Panther, Star Lord, Manits, Drax, Scarlett Witch, Dr Strange, Falcon, Bucky and Groot.

The only heroes left that survived the plague are Iron Man, Nebula, Captain America, Thor, Rocket, Black Widow, War Machine, M'Baku and Okoye.

At this stage of the movie, it's still unknown about the whereabouts of Ant-Man, The Wasp, Hawkeye and Valkyrie because none of them appear in Infinity War!

This sad ending is similar to the comic book with Thanos satisfied with his mission and then retreating in the country side presumably to retire his quest to end half of humanity.

In terms of Thanos, he had his own 'happy' ending.

If you were crying in the cinema seeing the "deaths" of your favorite characters, don't worry because an Avengers sequel is out next year that might reverse the damage that Thanos did.

In the comic book, the character of Adam Warlock was powerful enough to bring back all of the characters that 'disappeared'.

Sadly, Adam Warlock has not been introduced in the MCU yet, but another character will be taking his place.

In the post credits scene, we see Nick Fury and Maria Hill disappear but Fury sends out a last minute distress call to Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel is a powerful character that will be played by Brie Larson. The movie is taking place in the '90s, so there might be some time travel involved in order to reverse the damage that Thanos did.

Not to mention Marvel already announced that Spider-Man and Black Panther will have sequels in the near future so they aren't dying permanently yet.

Avengers 4 should see the original Avengers along with Captain Marvel achieving a happier ending than what we got in Infinity War.

The only characters that might stay dead are the ones that were killed off before the Infinity Gauntlet wiped out half of humanity.

This means characters like Loki, Gamora and Vision might be dead forever as they all died by Thanos without the use of the Infinity Gauntlet.

Anyway, you have to admire Marvel for not having a happy ending because a lot of casual viewers in my cinema were crying at the "death" of Spider-Man and the other characters.

Don't worry too much because they will all get wished back in the sequel as Marvel won't be killing off its most popular characters yet.
