Many comic book movie fans were devastated last month when Sony and Disney announced that Spider-Man was leaving the MCU following a contract dispute.

Well some good news has come in this week as both companies have reached a new agreement.

As reported by Variety, Spider-Man will have a third movie produced by both Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. The movie already has a confirmed release date of July 16th, 2021.

In the new agreement, Marvel Studios/Disney will receive 25% of the profits and they will also put up a quarter of the financing for the next movie.

This is less than the 50% that Marvel/Disney wanted in the original agreement a few weeks ago.

You can read Kevin Feige's comments posted down below.

"I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold."

Sony's Amy Pascal also commented about the positive news.

"This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in ‘Far From Home’ and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes."

Overall, this is all good news. We will finally get a satisfying conclusion in the third movie with Tom Holland reprising his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker.
