Sony is going all-in with the Spider-Man franchise as a new animated movie is on the way next year. Instead of Peter Parker being the main character, this movie focuses on the newer character of Miles Morales.

However as the name of the movie suggests, Miles Morales will not be the only Spider-Man in the movie. At the end of the trailer, it looks like we will get a version of Peter Parker in the movie too.

If you are unfamiliar with the comic books, there is a multiverse of different Spider-Men around. This means we might get to see different versions of Spider-Man appear in this film.

One of the most popular characters is Spider-Gwen. In that universe, Gwen Stacey is the one with powers in lieu of Peter Parker.

I remember watching the old animated series and there was even a version of Spider-Man that was just a Hollywood actor.

Since the movie is written by The Lego Movie's Phil Lord and Chris Miller, I'm hoping there are a few jokes added into the movie that breaks the fourth wall.

As expected, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has a 3D animated style. The movie is solely produced by Sony Pictures, so don't expect the film to link to the wider MCU like the Tom Holland movies.

Speaking of Tom Holland, it has just been revealed that Jon Watts is returning to make the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. The movie will be out in 2019.

As for Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, that movie will be released first on December 14, 2018 in North America. It is coming out around the same time as DC's Aquaman.
