Solo: A Star Wars Story Is A 'Fun Movie' Describes Donald Glover

Donald Glover plays a young version of Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story and the actor has described the film as "fun".

This is because they had more freedom to do more fun things compared to the other films that had to respect the past.

Donald Glover revealed his thoughts about the new movie via a new interview with Entertainment Weekly (via Heroic Hollywood). You can read about his comments on Solo: A Star Wars Story down below. 

All the Star Wars‘ are really fun, but I think this movie…we know what’s gonna happen. We know they’re not gonna die. We know, kind of, what happens, but how we got there is, I guess, the crux of it. So, we’re allowed to have a lot more fun, I think, than in the other movies, where you have to deal with a lot of lineage and what’s going to happen. I think this movie’s just a fun summer film. In the past films, most of them focused on the Skywalker family which led to the rise and downfall of Anakin Skywalker who became Darth Vader.

The new films continue a similar path looking at how Luke Skywalker's nephew Ben Solo turned to the dark side to become Kylo Ren.

As for Solo: A Star Wars Story, the characters of Han Solo, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian were never considered to be serious individuals and none of them are force sensitive either.

This allows the actors to have more freedom to come up with more ideas on what these characters could have acted like when they were younger.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is releasing in North America on May 25th, 2018. It stars Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton playing the supporting roles.
