It has been 22 years since Space Jam came out in cinemas, but we are finally now getting a sequel sometime in the near future.

Space Jam 2 is slowly recruiting new talent because Black Panther's Ryan Coogler has now been named as a producer on the movie.

According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Coogler is teaming up with LeBron James to be a producer on Space Jam 2.

The director of the film will be Terence Nance and LeBron James himself is the main star replacing Michael Jordan who starred in the 1996 original.

A photo on social media has also been posted and it confirms that Bugs Bunny will be the main cartoon lead in the movie with Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny and Tweety possibly also coming back to star in the sequel.

The Hollywood Reporter got a chance to interview LeBron James about Ryan Coogler joining the project. You can read his comments posted down below.

The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” James told The Hollywood Reporter. “It's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.

No release date for Space Jam 2 has been made yet, but production for the film is set to start next year during the 2019 NBA off season. It's possible we won't see the movie until the year 2020 at the earliest!
