Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi did not have a time jump as the latter film continued straight after The Force Awakens.

Well there is a rumor that we will indeed have a time jump when Star Wars: Episode IX gets released.

This rumor was confirmed by an article in the latest issue of Empire magazine (via Vanity Fair).

The article suggests that Star Wars: Episode IX will take place approximately one year after the events we saw in Star Wars: The Last Jedi Article details have below.

"John Boyega has confirmed the film takes place roughly one year after the events of The Last Jedi. By the end of The Last Jedi, the Resistance is practically able to fit around the holochess table in the Millennium Falcon, which suggests a different type of warfare for Episode IX."

I think the time jump is real since we saw John Boyega having a different hairstyle when he was filming Star Wars: Episode IX earlier this year.

Not to mention the movie will have to explain what has happened between the Resistance and The First Order after their latest conflict from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Anyway, categorize this news as a rumor since neither Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed when Episode IX takes place.

We'll probably get a better idea of when the film is set when the first trailer for the movie is dropped anytime soon.

Star Wars: Episode IX releases in North America on December 20th, 2019. It will be the last movie (for now) that concentrates on the Skywalker saga. Future films will reportedly focus on newer and different galaxies in the Star Wars universe.
