Before being diagnosed with leukemia, the Universal Champion was Roman Reigns and WWE had big plans for him in 2019. One such plan was for him to defend his title against his real life cousin Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson!

This big rumor comes from the reliable WrestleVotes Twitter page that has broken legit stories in the past. You can see their announcement posted down below.

"Rumble tidbit: Plan at one point was for The Rock to win the Royal Rumble & face Roman Reigns at Mania. That’s obviously not happening. Can Rock still win it & face Lesnar? I guess. Depends what kind of agreement Rock and WWE have. Once plans changed, Rock may have reconsidered."

Even though Dwayne Johnson is a huge movie star, he still wants to wrestle his final few matches before he retires for good.

The last match he had was a very short match at WrestleMania 32 against Erick Rowan. I'm pretty sure The Rock wants a better opponent for his retirement match.

Roman Reigns is unlikely to come back to WWE anytime soon so that match has to be scrapped.

If WWE is desperate, they can always book The Rock vs Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 35 instead.

That being said, that might not be a good idea if two part-time wrestlers are in the main event of the biggest show of the year.

I'm actually hoping a women's match is the main event for WrestleMania 35, because Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch are big enough stars to be in the main event spotlight now.
