Rumor: Lando Calrissian Could Be Back For Star Wars: Episode IX

For the past few years now, fans have been wanting to see the return of Lando Calrissian in the new Star Wars films.

Sadly though, the only version of the character we've seen so far is the younger Donald Glover version in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

With Star Wars: Episode IX set to start filming next month, a new huge rumor suggests that we might see the older Billy Dee Williams version of the character very soon.

This makes perfect sense since he's the only major character in the original trilogy to have yet to appear in the sequel trilogy.

This rumor was posted by Fantha Tracks who has heard from two different sources that Billy Dee Williams will be back playing Lando Calrissian in Star Wars: Episode IX. With Carrie Fisher no longer able to appear and Luke Skywalker and Han Solo being killed off, Lando is the only character that can return in Episode IX.

Initially JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson did not add Billy Dee Williams in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi because they felt the character wasn't needed in the narrative of those films.

Not it sounds like JJ Abrams has changed his mind and wants the character back in Episode IX.

We may hear of an official announcement for the cast of Star Wars: Episode IX very soon as filming starts as early as next month.

It's rumored Episode IX will take place a few years after the events of The Last Jedi so some of the characters will appear a little older than before.
