Rick Rude has now been announced to be inducted into the 2017 WWE Hall of Fame. It's interesting how long it has taken him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

After all, the poor man passed away many years ago. Usually wrestlers are put into the Hall of Fame shortly after their passing.

Anyway, WWE made the announcement on WWE.com. The "Ravishing" Rick Rude will be inducted by his good friend Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat.

Steamboat was one of his greatest opponents. Steamboat himself is already in the WWE Hall of Fame since he got inducted back in 2009.

Rick Rude was a really good wrestler that was able to make his opponents look great. I always remember watching his SummerSlam 1990 match with The Ultimate Warrior inside a Steel Cage.

That was the first Steel Cage match I ever watched as a kid and it made me a professional wrestling fan to this day.

Sure at the time I was rooting for The Ultimate Warrior to win, but it takes more than one person in wrestling to make a match look great

Despite his wrestling achievements, Rick Rude is also notable for being the first and only man to appear on WWE Raw and WCW Nitro on the same night. Raw was being pre-recorded so he already filmed his scenes before departing back to WCW. If you flipped channels, you would have seen him appear on both shows. It was due to this that WWE changed its contracts going forward. Whenever a wrestler leaves the company, they now have to wait a minimum of 90 days before they are able to join another wrestling company.

The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame is going to be a strong class. Rick Rude will join the likes of Kurt Angle, Diamond Dallas Page, Beth Phoenix The Rock 'n' Roll Express and Theodore Long.
