Rey, Finn and Poe are the main new characters in the new Star Wars trilogy that started two years ago in The Force Awakens.

Well the trio along with BB-8 might be starring in even more Star Wars films beyond the release of Episode IX in 2019.

Lucasfilm President, Kathleen Kennedy, confirmed this while she was interviewed on The Star Wars Show. Much like Marvel, Disney wants the franchise to be ongoing so we will be getting more movies.

The series might also explore new characters in new adventures. You can read Kennedy's comments down below.

We're sitting down now, we're talking about the next ten years of Star Wars stories, and we're looking at narratively where that might go. Future stories beyond Episode IX with these new characters: Rey, Poe, Finn, BB-8. But we're also looking at working with people that are interested in coming into the Star Wars world and taking us to places that we haven't been yet. And that's exciting too because its a vast galaxy far, far away, so the possibilities are endless

Star Wars is earning lots of money for Disney so they are not going to stop. This is similar with Marvel as many MCU movies come out each and every year.

Hopefully Disney does not oversaturate the market with too many Star Wars films. I'd prefer if they take a break every now. Annual releases for any entertainment product leads to franchise fatigue.

For now, we just have to wait and see what happens after Episode IX in 2019. Before that movie comes out, we have Star Wars: The Last Jedi coming out in December and Solo releasing next year.
