Early last month, the new artist on the scene, 16 Knapper, released his debut full-length album.

The instrumental hip-hop and electronic artist from Bergen, Norway spent his previous years living a lifestyle full of graffiti and skateboarding. Now, after perfecting his music for three years, the talented artist released 'Astral'.

'Astral' is an album that expresses a lot for the unique artist, something that he couldn't get out through graffiti and skateboarding but instead through music.

The music featured on the album is a mix between hip-hop and electronic, with some rock and roll, pop and soulful influences added in.

For those who are fans of Zomboy, Araabmuzik, DJ Shadow and Bonobo, you are sure to love the recent work of 16 Knapper.

After listening to some tracks off the album, I realized that it was funky and danceable, but still told a story.

The mix of genres of music that 16 Knapper threw into his work definitely added to the appeal for me. 'Astral' is definitely an album worth the listen.

"16 Knapper is on a quest to remind the digital youth about the old, dusty, vinyl past with 'Astral'," a recent press release described the artist's goal for listeners and fans.

"The idea behind this album is letting go of some unwritten rules, personal and musical, in order to evolve," 16 Knapper explained.
