Nintendo, Gamestop Hosting Super Smash Bros. Tournament

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS hits American shelves tomorrow. The first series installment since Brawl in 2008, the nation is gearing up for a game that sold tremendously when it was released in Japan.

In order to promote the release of Super Smash Bros.

for 3DS, Nintendo of America is holding a joint promotion with Gamestop; you could win a trip to New York City to compete in a massive Super Smash Bros. tournament if you win a regional competition.

The qualifying tournaments will be held at 15 designated Gamestop locations, which include: San Jose, CA, Denver, CO, Chicago, IL, Dedham, MA, Houston, TX, and Plano, TX, among others.

The winners of each local tournament will be awarded: a Nintendo 3DS XL System, a copy of Super Smash Bros.

for 3DS, two round trip tickets to the main event in New York City, a $250 Visa gift card, and two nights in a New York City hotel chosen by Nintendo.

The winner of the national tournament will receive, along with the glory of being the Smash Bros. champ, a robe and trophy signifying status as the contest victor.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS is the first of two games to be released in 2014; Super Smash Bros. for Wii U hits American shelves later this year.
