Earlier this week SchmoesKnows was able to ferret out that Nathan Fillion would be appearing in this summer's highly-anticipated summer comic book adaptation, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

For all of you that fondly remember the Joss Whedon series Firefly -- and its spin-off movie, Serenity -- this was hugely exciting as it was speculated that Fillion might reprise his role as Mal Reynolds, the soldier-turned-space-cowboy.

Alas, it was not to happen.

Instead, SchmoesKnows leaked, Fillion will be playing Cosmo, the psychic Russian dog.

Yes. I said psychic Russian dog.

For those of you unfamiliar with the canon, "Cosmo is a telepathic Russian dog in the Marvel Comics universe. The character was created by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, first appeared in Nova vol.

4 #7. Within the context of the stories, Cosmo is the security chief of the spacestation Knowhere and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy," reads his Wikipedia bio.

We knew Nathan Fillion had a strange sense of humor...we just never expected it to be this strange.

Fillion is best known for his time on One Life to Live, Firefly, Serenity, and his most recent silver screen role, the title character in the ABC dramacom, Castle.

Keep an eye out for this face attached to Fillion's voice.
