The Fast and the Furious franchise has changed a lot over the last 18 years.

What started as a series about street racing and petty theft, the franchise has now become a big action blockbuster rivaling the likes of Mission Impossible and GI Joe.

This is evident with this year's release called Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Aside of being the ninth sequel, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a spinoff concentrating on the characters played by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Jason Statham.

Joining this dynamic duo is Vanessa Kirby who plays the feisty sister of Statham's character.

There's not much to say about the story because the three heroes have to prevent Idris Elba's evil character from getting a hold of a virus codenamed the 'Snowflake'.

He wants to wipe out a large number of the world's population so that the remaining survivors can become evolved human beings or something like that.

Idris Elba isn't just a normal adversary like other bad guys that have been in the Fast & Furious franchise before.

He's like a cyborg and he nicknames himself to be the 'Black Superman', which is funny but true in a way.

It almost feels like this film series is becoming a comic book movie franchise with how ridiculous the plot is.

That being said, the over-the-top action and banter between the main stars is what makes this movie so fun and entertaining. You really just have to sit back and turn your brain off because this is a really fun ride.

The Fast and Furious series has never been described as a comedy, but Hobbs & Shaw is by far the funniest movie in the entire franchise.

The Rock and Jason Statham have wonderful chemistry and the two mock one another throughout the entire movie. There is even two big cameos with some big movie stars that really adds to the fun atmosphere.

The pace of Hobbs & Shaw is very fast because there is action throughout the whole time.

If there's no action scenes, the rest of the film is filled with jokes between the main stars. I must say this could arguably be the most fun Fast & Furious movie I have ever seen.

My favorite part of the movie is the climax though when the characters hide out inb= Samoa.

Hobbs finally gets to meet his family after a long time with his brothers being played by the likes of Cliff Curtis, Roman Reigns and more.

The latter may not speak in the film, but he gets to perform his iconic spear finisher two times!

The only type of people that may not like this movie are people that are hoping for something more realistic.

This is a Hollywood movie and you have to suspend your disbelief to really enjoy that this film has to offer.

All in all, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a really fun ride and is one of my most favorite movies released in 2019.

It's one of the better Fast & Furious movies and I cannot wait to see if a sequel is made in the near future!

Verdict: 4.5/5 stars.
