Mission: Impossible - Fallout Wins Box Office For Second Weekend In A Row

Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Fallout has won the Box Office weekend for the second weekend in a row. In the process, the entertaining action movie received the highest second weekend in the history of the popular franchise.

As reported by Box Office Pro, Mission: Impossible - Fallout received a second weekend outing of an estimated $35 million.

This is the biggest second weekend for the series and word of mouth is still pretty strong as its reviews are universally liked by both critics and average movie goers.

From a worldwide standpoint, the movie has already amassed $329.5 million globally. There's a chance the movie could creep up to nearly $700 million worldwide as that has been the milestone reached for the last two movies released in the franchise.

Mission Impossible - Fallout managed to beat Disney's Christopher Robin movie which earned $26.6 million in its first weekend.

The movie opened slightly less than predicted, but word of mouth is strong as family audiences gave it an "A" grade via Cinemascore.

The only other major new release this week was The Spy Who Dumped Me which opened in line with industry expectations with a $12.3 million opening.

Things might not change too much for the rest of August as no big blockbusters are coming until near the end of the year.

The last Box Office news we have is that Black Panther has grossed $700 million in North America alone. It's the only third movie in history to cross the $700 million domestically following Avatar and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
