A few years ago, the "Big Four" of heavy metal comprised of popular bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The four bands held several concerts back in 2010 much to the delight of metal heads all around the world.

Sadly though, it sounds like the original "Big Four" lineup is not going to happen anytime soon with Slayer in a retirement tour and Metallica not having any interest to do more shows with the other bands.

Megadeth singer and former Metallica member Dave Mustaine expressed on Twitter his thoughts of a new "Big Four" concert. The new lineup will include bands like "Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus and Testament".

In follow up tweets, Mustaine said he felt saddened when Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett said on the 'Big Four' DVD that it feels more like the 'Big 1'.

Fans have sad Hammett may have been joking when he said that, but it sounds like Mustaine felt saddened by that comment.

Not to mention Metallica is staging their own worldwide tour in support of the 2016 album 'Hardwired to Self Destruct". There's a chance Metallica is fully booked for the rest of 2018 so another 'Big Four' concert is out of the question.

Anyway, it sounds like only Anthrax and Megadeth are the only ones keen for another 'Big Four' concert.

It will be interesting to see if the two bands decide to replace Slayer and Metallica for Exodus and Testament to please fans with a new 'Big Four' lineup.

Personally, I would have loved to have seen a reunion tour featuring Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica and Slayer. That said, it sounds like the latter two bands are preventing that from coming into fruition.
