Coming years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was even an idea, Fox purchased the rights to the X-Men franchise and has been pumping out movies regularly ever since.

They finally made the jump to television earlier this year with Legion on FXX, and now that will be joined by Marvel's The Gifted.

According to Deadline, Fox has officially ordered Marvel's The Gifted to series.

Coming as the first collaboration between Fox and Marvel Television, Marvel's The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker as parents of two children, played by Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hines White, who begin to exhibit mutant powers.

They must then go on the run from the government, where they end up meeting up with an underground network of mutants.

These characters appear to be newly created for the series, but we already know that a number of known X-Men characters will be showing up in the series as well, including Blink (Jamie Chung) and Polaris (Emma Dumont).

Matt Nix of Burn Notice fame wrote the pilot for the series and will serve as executive producer alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeff Loeb, Jim Chory, and Brian Singer.

Singer also directed the pilot after handing a number of the X-Men movies over the years.

While Gifted was ordered to series, Fox has not yet revealed how it will fit into its fall schedule yet. That information will come during Fox's upfronts next Monday, May 15.

Alongside this announcement also came the first teaser trailer for Marvel's The Gifted, though a full length trailer will be coming next Monday during the upfronts.

From what we see in the trailer, it looks like this series will definitely be built around the characters like the X-Men series has always been known for.
