Mark Hamill Seems Uninterested In Returning For Star Wars: Episode IX

Mark Hamill was initially keen in returning to the Star Wars franchise because he was going to reunite with both Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

With the two aforementioned actors not being in Star Wars: Episode IX, Hamill isn't as keen anymore starring in more Star Wars movies in the future.

As you might know already, Carrie Fisher sadly died back in December 2016 so she's unable to return to star in Star Wars: Episode IX. This is interesting because her character General Leia still managed to survive the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

As for Harrison Ford, he has never been keen on Star Wars and always wanted his character Han Solo killed off.

He got his wish finally when the character got killed off by Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Due to these circumstances, Mark Hamill is the only one of the original trio that's left. Mark Hamill can play Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IX again but only as a Force Ghost.

Hamill expressed his concerns for returning to the franchise during a new interview with ABC News (via Screen Rant). You can see what he had to say down below.

"It really has tarnished my ability to enjoy it to its fullest. You were asking earlier, ‘Are you gonna come back?’ I don’t care anymore, on that level. Because Han Solo is gone, Luke is gone. You just can’t get the band back together the way you wanted it to be, and it shouldn’t be that way. It is what it is. Rather than being sorry that we can’t have more of her, I’m just grateful that we had the time with her that we did."

It's likely JJ Abrams will bring Mark Hamill back for Star Wars: Episode IX, although it sounds like he's not as enthusiastic in reprising the role anymore. Hopefully Hamill sees some type of enjoyment before he leaves the franchise forever.
