Even though Ben Affleck's portrayal of Batman has been praised by many, the movies the character has been in have not been great so far.

Critics didn't like both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad when they came out last year. Now it seems things are rocky for The Batman.

Things seemed to have been going well regarding the production of The Batman a few months ago.

Ben Affleck finished writing the script and was still going to direct the movie. At the time, many thought Affleck would be the one to make the perfect DC movie.

Alas things got shaky when Affleck's movie Live by Night came out last year. It was the first movie he directed that got critically panned.

Both he and Warner Bros. must have got cold feet so then Matt Reeves was called in to direct The Batman instead.

Matt Reeves is a great director as he was responsible for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. However since he joined the project, things are now in restart mode.

According to a report from Slash Film, the previously "great script" written by Affleck has been scrapped. Sources tell them that the script is being rewritten entirely.

It's being said due to the script rewrite, this could affect the cast and who is in the movie.

Joe Manganiello was cast last year as Deathstroke, but a recent interview with Pittsburgh Today makes it sound like Manganiello is unsure of his role in the movie now.

He just said "we'll see" in regards to him still being in the movie.

The new DC movies are in need of a big hit. Batman has always been a bankable star, but the critical reception to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has kind of dampened the character's popularity.

Hopefully The Batman ends up being good despite all of the production trouble. Warner Bros. initially wanted the film to be out in 2018, but it sounds like we won't see it anytime soon.

Matt Reeves is still working on War of the Planet of the Apes and his schedule won't be free until the second half of 2017.

Not to mention Ben Affleck himself will have to take time off this November in order to help promote the Justice League movie.

Anyway, production troubles sometimes doesn't ruin a movie. Marvel's Ant-Man turned out well despite getting a different director and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was good even though it had lots of re-shoots and script rewrites.
