A few months ago Star Wars: The Last Jedi actress, Kelly Marie Tran, deleted her Instagram page due to many online trolls harassing her.

The actress has now posted a response to the criticism via an essay she wrote on The New York Times.

She said that she started to "believe" what people were saying to her, but now she is starting to have no shame for who she is and what she represents. You can see what she had to say posted below.

"Their words reinforced a narrative I had heard my whole life: that I was “other,” that I didn’t belong, that I wasn’t good enough, simply because I wasn’t like them. And that feeling, I realize now, was, and is, shame, a shame for the things that made me different, a shame for the culture from which I came from. And to me, the most disappointing thing was that I felt it at all."

"I want to live in a world where children of color don’t spend their entire adolescence wishing to be white. I want to live in a world where women are not subjected to scrutiny for their appearance, or their actions, or their general existence. I want to live in a world where people of all races, religions, socioeconomic classes, sexual orientations, gender identities and abilities are seen as what they have always been: human beings."

She then says she will continue to break down barriers in Hollywood and nothing is going to slow down her progress in life.

Kelly Marie Tran is already confirmed to appear in Star Wars: Episode IX so her acting career will continue blossoming.

Her co-star, Mark Hamill, has already praised her for speaking out and responding to her online trolls. Hopefully less people are toxic when Star Wars: Episode IX releases late next year.
