The rumors of comedian Kristen Wiig becoming a popular Wonder Woman villain turned out to be true after all. Wiig will have to transform herself to the cat-lady character named 'Cheetah'.

This new pieces of news was confirmed by Wonder Woman 2 director Patty Jenkins on her official Twitter account today. You can read her full announcement of Wiig's casting of the character down below.

"So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It’s true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can't wait to finally work with one of my favorites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!! @GalGadot".

Jenkins did not confirm if the movie will have any other villains, but it's still possible.

The Wonder Woman sequel is speculated to be taking place in the '80s where she battles against the Soviet Union during the height of The Cold War.

Wonder Woman 2 will start shooting this May so it will only be a matter of time until we see Kristen Wiig in the Cheetah makeup. Hopefully the appearance looks true to the comic books as Cheetah is a fan favorite.

The casting of Wiig has caused some confusion among some comic book fans though. This is because Wiig is usually associated with comedy films and has rarely played a villainous character.

That said, Gal Gadot's casting was questioned by many people, but she ended up playing a very good Wonder Woman.

Likewise Heath Ledger knocked it out of the park playing The Joker in The Dark Knight despite some fan backlash prior to that's film's release nearly a decade ago.
