Kickbeat Special Edition, the rhythm-based fighting game developed by Zen Studios, is available for the Playstation 4. The announcement was made today via Twitter.

"The soundtrack features tracks from a diverse lineup of artists," Sony posted on their blog.

Musicians featured in the game include: Pendulum, Celldweller, Marilyn Manson, Shen Yi, POD, Papa Roach, Blue Stahli, Southpaw Swagger, Pre-Fight Hype, Voicians, Rob Zombie, Styles Beyond, and enV.

Music-based games have been hits in the past; Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution were among the best sellers of their time. But Zen Studios distinguishes Kickbeat from past rhythm-based games, stating on the game's official site,"we got rid of the bars, arrows, button icons, etc.

that other music games rely on as action cues and replaced them with fully 3 characters.

Instead of just seeing characters in the background moving to a preset script as eye candy while the actual gameplay takes place in an abstract 2D interface, you actually control and react to those 3D characters."

The music, however, is not the only attraction of the game.

Zen Studios stated that the characters all have a "human touch." The game's campaign mode, featuring protagonists Lee and Mei, is the story of a "love-struck and unlikely hero drawn into a battle for control of the world's music."

Mr. Halisi is the story's antagonist, who is the leader of "those who would use music for power and control."

In addition to the story, the campaign mode features cut scenes that are " hand animated and done in the flavor of old school kung fu movies."

Kickbeat Special Edition is now available on Playstation 4 for $9.99.
