Kellyanne Conway Counsels Trump On Nukes, Admits She Doesn't Even Know Who Has Them On Maddow

Today on The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC, Rachel Maddow had Trump's former campaign manager (and current "counselor") Kellyanne Conway on to explain today's Trump tweets about nuclear weapons.

As always, Conway tried to twist logic beyond recognition in order to make Trump's statements sound sane.

Maddow began the conversation by asking whether Trump was planning on expanding the U.S. nuclear stockpile.

At first, Conway tried to say that Trump wasn't planning on increasing the number of nukes.

Then, however, she pivoted and started talking about the Berlin terrorists (whom apparently we would kill by nuking Germany?). She then pivoted back to saying Trump wasn't changing any policy by tweet.

After Conway said that she counseled Trump on the nuke issue, Maddow asked a simple question: "Who has the most nuclear weapons, after us and Russia?" The response: "I don't know...but I'm sure he [Trump] does." Of course he does.

Next, Maddow got into all of Trump's corrupt practices. She asked about Gen. Flynn, who is set to be National Security Adviser.

Flynn recently promoted a policy on Turkey while not revealing that he was getting paid by a prominent Turkish businessman.

And then there was his calling Clinton a child rapist. Conway didn't seem to think that either of these actions disqualified Flynn from his position.

Maddow also questioned Conway about another one of Trump's loons: Monica Crowley. Crowley in the past said:

[Obama is] not black African, he is Arab African...And yet, this guy is campaigning as black and painting anybody who dares to criticize him as a racist. I mean that is--it is the biggest con I think I've ever seen.

Conway's wheels spun for a minute when she tried to justify that; she then argued that Crowley has a Ph.D. Looks like having a doctorate absolves you from being insane -- tell that to Josef Mengele (Kellyanne, if you don't know who that is, you can see here.)

Maddow also asked about a recent Wall Street Journal article saying that Trump's pick to head Health and Human Services was doing what appears to be insider trading.

Conway asked whether that was illegal for someone in Congress, and then changed the subject.

After that, Maddow asked about Trump's investment in a hedge fund that had bet on the privatization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Conway, as you may expect, responded that we don't know if Trump still holds that investment.

Maddow followed up by saying that we would know if Trump released his taxes -- which caught Conway in a bit of a bind.

Conway then argued that the investment in question was only a couple million dollars, so it doesn't matter. Tell that to the guy who got 20 to life for stealing candy bars.

To change the subject, Conway tried to bring up the Clinton Foundation.

In response, Maddow asked about Trump's sons' selling access to him, Trump's daughter's sitting in on a meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan, etc.

Conway kept trying to divert to talking about Clinton -- apparently not realizing that Clinton is no longer running for anything, and Trump is about to be president.

Maddow then asked Conway about Melania Trump's $100+ million lawsuit against a blogger. Conway insisted that the blogger needed to be punished.

During the questioning, Conway continued to support the Trumps' actions to silence the media.

She said that she believes that the lawsuit makes sense because (according to her) people say false things about the Trumps and never did about Obama.

She clearly was in outer space for the last decade and never heard any of the things Trump said about Obama's heritage.

In the end, it was quite an interview -- if only Wolf Blitzer asked questions like that (of both parties), we would be in a much better place.

Maybe one day, after Wolf Blitzer gets a firmware update, he will start doing that.
