Taika Waititi became a famous director thanks to him helming Marvel's very entertaining Thor: Ragnarok movie. The New Zealand born director could now add Star Wars to the list if an official deal is made.

During an interview with Newshub, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy expressed some geniune interest on Taika Waititi directing a Star Wars movie in the near future. You can read her comments posted down below.

I would love for him to direct a Star Wars movie. I think he has exactly the right sensibility. It was very exciting to see him step into the Marvel universe and do such an amazing job with Thor.

She later said that she will let Waititi know and that it was a genuine offer.

Waititi however has said in the past he might not want to direct a Star Wars movie in the near future because he's worried he won't have as much creative freedom.

However, with Kennedy being impressed with his work on Thor: Ragnarok, some kind of deal could be made in the near future.

After all, Disney/Lucasfilm are already planning another new trilogy in the franchise to be written by Rian Johnson.

Personally, I'd love to see Waititi try and tackle a Boba Fett solo film starring Temuera Morrison.

Both of them are Maori New Zealanders and the film could be great. That being said, he may have to cut down on the comedy since Boba Fett is far from being a comedic character.

You can see a video of the interview posted down below. It will be interesting to see if something happens and this is not just friendly chatting.
