Gotham City Sirens is a new female led comic book movie currently in production by Warner Bros.

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is the main star and she will be joined by the characters of Catwoman and Poison Ivy. Several Hollywood actresses have expressed interest in the latter two roles and Jessica Chastain wants the Poison Ivy role.

Cinema Blend had a chance to interview Chastain recently. She is keen to play the role only if it's properly written.

Chastain is against playing female characters that are over sexualized or stereotyped. Poison Ivy is indeed a strong independent character that could fit the bill. You can read her comments below.

"I'm interested in all things where the characters are strong and dynamic, and not stereotypes or objects. I like female characters that are subjects, not objects. And so, if Poison Ivy happens to be that, sure. Throw my hat in the ring."

It remains to be seen if Warner Bros. is interested in Chastain playing the role of Poison Ivy.

She's a redhead so she fits the bill perfectly, although another actress has been rumored to play the role instead. Last year, there were rumors that Megan Fox would get the role.

When Megan Fox was rumored for the role last year, the internet groaned. Fox already played April O' Neill in the TMNT reboots and she looked nothing like the original character.

Whether or not Fox is still in the running for the role remains to be seen. It will be interesting if she gets cast as Catwoman instead.

Anyway, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn stole the show last year in Suicide Squad.

The popularity of the character is the main reason why Gotham City Sirens is being made in the first place. Hopefully we hear more details of the movie later this year.
