Actor Jesse L Martin has been on The Flash ever since the series debuted back in 2014. However, the actor will now be taking a sabbatical from the DC TV show in order to take care of some health related issues.

As reported by TV Line, Jesse L Martin has been sitting down for most of his scenes including Joe West in season 5.

This has been done on purpose because the actor has broken his back. In Season 5, you rarely see the character out and about as he's mostly been at home.

A CW representative said the following about Martin's future sabbatical: "We wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to his return as Detective Joe West".

It's unknown how long Jesse L Martin will be out from the series, although the character will be written out of the show for the time being until he's healthy enough to come back.

The character may have to leave the city or something like that.

Anyway, The Flash TV show itself is taking a one week break and will air in the second week of November instead. You can read a synopsis for the next episode of the show posted down below.

"BARRY AND IRIS TEAM UP TO STOP A DANGEROUS META NAMED RAG DOLL - Nora (Jessica Parker Kennedy) lets something slip about the future that devastates Iris (Candice Patton). In an attempt to distract his wife, Barry (Grant Gustin) asks Iris to team up to stop a new meta, Rag Doll (guest star Troy James). Meanwhile, Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) learns something about her father. Phil Chipera directed the episode written by Thomas Pound & Sterling Gates (#505). Original airdate 11/13/2018."
