When it comes to release dates Hip-Hop artists have become completely unpredictable.
Just when we thought there was a concrete date for the release of Jay Rock's "90059" album another one pops up and while it's sooner than expected, it continues to keep fans on a roller coaster.
Jay Rock's initial release date on iTunes wasn't even scheduled for 2015. Magically it changed to December 4 of 2015 and at the moment everyone was thinking, "okay that's got to be it." Everyone was wrong and the truth is, we should have seen this coming.
Beyonce may have started the trend of the surprise release, however, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and other artists soon followed suit.
With Jay Rock being a party of TDE and a member of the "Black Hippy" crew which includes Kendrick Lamar, we should have known that a concrete release date was too much to ask for.
When the "90059" album art and tracklisting began popping up Jay Rock said his album could release at anytime and he and TDE have done everything in their power to make that claim literal.
Up until recently fans were on pins and needles waiting for a real concrete release date and now it looks like they have it.
"According to Best Buy's website, Jay Rock's sophomore album, 90059, will be dropping in stores on September 11, with digital copies coming a week earlier on September 4, aka next Friday," according to HotNewHipHop's report on Monday.
This means both Jay Rock and Travis Scott will be releasing highly anticipated Hip-Hop albums on the same day.
A little friendly competition perhaps? We'll have to wait next Friday to see, unless of course Jay Rock and TDE decide to switch up on us again.
