Director James Gunn may have been fired from Disney a few weeks ago due to some offensive tweets he posted almost a decade ago, although this does not mean this truly ends his working relationship with the company.

It sounds like the studio is still interested in using his script for Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is interested in his script for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which is good news for actor Dave Bautista.

Dave Bautista threatened to leave Guardians of the Galaxy 3 if James Gunn was not involved in the movie at all. If this report ends up being true, the character of Drax will not have to be recast.

Exit negotiations between James Gunn and Disney are still ongoing at the moment.

It's expected he will still get paid between $7 million to $10 million as that would have been the same amount of money he got if he still directed Guardians of the Galaxy 3.

James Gunn may not have to worry about future work anytime soon because major studios outside of Disney are already reaching out to him to helm potential other big blockbuster franchise movies.

If that does not happen, sources say Disney could bring him back for future Marvel Studios movies once the heat dies down.

James Gunn already apologized for the tweets he made even before he got hired by Disney and Marvel Studios.

Many people, including the cast of GOTG, feel Disney overreacted to the whole situation and feel that James Gunn should still be directing Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
