'Hidden Figures' Tops The U.S. Box Office As 'Passengers' Hold On Worldwide

Outer space seems to be a bit of a theme in this weeks top films at the box office. Passengers is holding strong worldwide while Hidden Figures continues to top the box office in the U.S.

"Sony's 'Passengers' launched in China this weekend, delivering a strong $32.5 million thus catapulting the film into the number one spot worldwide for the frame with $38.125 overall and $237.1 million globally to date with Japan set to release the film on March 24th," according to comScore's Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian.

"Notably, Disney's 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' is now looking toward the $1 billion global milestone with $979.95 million in the box office bank through Sunday."

Meanwhile, in the U.S. fans are opting for Hidden Figures, La La Land and Sing as the top three go-to films. You can check out the full box office list for the weekend of January 15 below.
