Hasbro owns the license to the Transformers franchise and the toy company is not happy with DC Comics and Warner Bros.

This is because DC Comics is selling toys with a character named 'Bumblebee'. This is the same name as the heroic Autobot.

As reported by Variety, Habsro filed a lawsuit earlier this week for trademark infringement.

They feel that the DC's Bumblebee (a young girl that can shrink to the size of a bumblebee) can get some people confused with their own Bumblebee from the Transformers franchise.

Hasbro wants to bar Mattel and DC from selling the latest toys of the girl Bumblebee from the DC Super Hero Girls range.

This range is aimed at young girls and features other comic book characters such as Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Harley Quinn and more. Hasbro is also worried about the Lego set featuring the girl Bumblebee too.

This case is interesting because the DC Bumblebee was created first back in 1977. However, the Autobot Bumblebee was created later in 1983.

Despite DC creating the character first, Hasbro filed the Bumblebee name as a trademark first. Hasbro filed and registered the trademark back in 2015.

Hasbro is worried the sales of the toys might cause some confusion in the marketplace. This might seem weird considering one character is a young girl while another is a huge yellow robot.

In either case, Hasbro is not happy with both characters having the same name. It will be interesting to see what happens during this case.
