As you might know already, a new Dragon Ball Super movie based on Broly will be shown in Japan earlier this year.

Western fans of Dragon Ball will now be interested to know the movie will be broadcast in the US and Canada too.

Funimation has now announced via a press release that it will be showing Dragon Ball Super: Broly in cinemas across both the US and Canada.

While the film will be out first in Japan in December 2018, the US and Canada will have to wait until January 2019 to see the movie.

A one month delay is not that bad, and the movie is also expected to have an English dub eventually. A specific release date for the film in the US and Canada will be announced at a later date.

“We are excited to be partnering with Toei Animation and Twentieth Century Fox on the theatrical release of ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly,’” said Gen Fukunaga, CEO and President of Funimation. “The Dragon Ball North America Tour is really just the beginning. We have some big surprises in store for Dragon Ball fans of all ages. With the success of the last two Dragon Ball movies and the tremendous popularity of ‘Dragon Ball Super,’ we know that this theatrical event will deliver all the excitement that Dragon Ball fans have come to expect.”

Dragon Ball Super: Broly is kind of like a reboot of Broly giving the character his first official canonical appearance in the Dragon Ball franchise.

In the past, Broly was only in the old DBZ spinoff movies that were not considered to be official canon.

Anyway, a special panel that will talk more about Dragon Ball Super: Broly will be happening at the San Diego Comic Con event on July 19th.

It will tell us more information about the film plus some celebrity fans will be in attendance too.
