Season 5 of The Flash returns this week with an above average episode that further challenges the characters, although The Flash himself doesn't do much.

After a run in with a new villain called Silver Ghost, the Flash has to sit this one out.

The reason The Flash is unable to do anything this week is because he starts phasing uncontrollably. He's put inside the STAR Labs prison while Nora Allen has to step up and save the day this week.

The main story this week is about Joss Jackam (aka Weather Witch) as she is in court awaiting her sentence.

The prosecution wants her to have the maximum sentence for the crimes she committed in a previous episode, but Cecile reads her mind and feels sorry for Weather Witch.

The theme of this week's episode was about giving people second chances.

At first, Nora Allen has no sympathy for Weather Witch as she feels criminals are evil 100 percent of the time. This is all thanks to her knowing Eobard Thawne killed the mother of Barry Allen.

Eobard Thawne thinks he can change his ways, but Nora Allen doesn't think so. Weather Witch is feeling guilty for her crimes and wants to take responsibility for it, but she breaks out of prison unexpectedly thanks to Silver Ghost.

Silver Ghost wants to recruit Weather Witch in order to assemble a team of criminals to reign over Central City. The two femme fatales steal a fancy car with metahuman technology, and only Nora Allen is able to stop them.

I do like how they made Weather Witch a sympathetic baddie because she's not 100 percent evil.

She knows the crimes that she committed and wants to go to prison to pay for what she did. However, she cannot really do much since Silver Ghost keeps breaking her out of prison and taking her for a ride.

While Nora Allen does not catch Silver Ghost and Weather Witch, Nora knows Weather Witch will have a chance of heart and is willing to give her a second chance.

After that, Nora goes back to the future to help out Eobard Thawne.

The side story this week is of Cisco wanting to make a cure to heal all metahumans. He wants his powers gone, but Caitlin doesn't want to part ways with Killer Frost. She feels some metahumans love their powers.

The two come into agreement that a metahuman cure should be used by choice. If someone doesn't want to use the cure, their allowed to keep their powers and vice versa.

This side story is similar to many X-Men stories where the humans over there want to cure their mutant powers.

I admire The Flash adopting this storyline because there will be a lot of consequences if a universal cure is used in Central City.

The only thing I did not like about this week's episode is that Barry Allen wasn't in it at all.

It's a little boring seeing him on the sidelines, although I did not mind how this episode focused more on Nora Allen.

The theme of giving people second chances is also interesting because he teases that Eobard Thawne might be able to redeem himself.

My guess is that he's still evil, although Nora Allen is gullible and will think Eobard can change his evil ways.

Verdict: 7/10
