Disney and Lucasfilm have released the first ever trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

This is the eighth episode in the main film series and serves as a direct sequel to Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It appears The First Order is seeking revenge to what happened to them in the previous movie.

However, the main focus of this trailer is Rey as she is with Luke Skywalker training to be a Jedi. She has to use her powers to see the state of the galaxy.

Luke Skywalker also teaches her how to use a lightsaber more properly. Finn on the other hand is still recovering from the injuries he suffered in the last film.

Another portion of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer shows that The Resistance base is being hammered by The First Order.

This is a throwback to The Empire Strikes Back when the bad guys were attacking the Rebel base on the snow planet of Hoth.

It appears there will be more death and destruction in this movie, but there will be space battles too. The trailer ends with an ominous line uttered by Luke Skywalker where he says "it's time for the Jedi to end".

We still don't know what he means by that line. Maybe he's using reverse psychology on Rey to motivate her to continue becoming a Jedi. After all, she might be the galaxy's last hope against Kylo Ren and Snoke.

The trailer is still a teaser so it didn't show us the new cast members of the movie.

Benecio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran have all been cast in this film, but we still don't know much about the characters that they are playing.

We' might find out closer to the film's release date this December.
