Disney and Lucasfilm has uploaded the first episode of the Star Wars: Forces of Destiny.

If you missed the announcement the first time around, this is a new web series that they are uploading on YouTube focusing on the great and heroic female characters in the franchise.

This first episode is called "Sands of Jakku" and it centers around the characters of Rey and BB-8.

This episode takes place during the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens when BB-8 first meets Rey on the planet of Jakku. However, it does feature a new mini storyline so you won't be watching any recycled scenes.

You will be happy to know that Daisy Ridley is back to reprise her role as Rey in this series.

We also get to hear Lupita Nyong'o's voice as she narrates the series as Maz Kanata. The episode in question is just under three minutes long, although it gives you an idea of how charming and Rey character can be.

"Sands of Jakku" is pretty much about Rey and BB-8 running away from a huge junk monster.

This monster wants to eat BB-8, and the pair have to find a way to escape from it. The ending is quite cool as it goes to show us how compassionate the Rey character is.

More episodes will be uploaded in the future. Other episodes will focus on characters such as Jyn Erso, Ahsoka Tano, Leia Organa, Padme Amidala and more.

Felicity Jones is back to reprise her role as Jyn Erso too. Anyway, you can watch the first episode of Star Wars: Forces of Destiny yourself below.
