One Piece: Stampede is the latest animated movie from the famous One Piece anime and manga.

The cool thing about this movie is the fact that it's a standalone film so you don't need to have been a fan of the series in order to understand what is going on.

Personally, the last time I watched a One Piece film or TV show was One Piece Gold back in January 2017.

I watched the English dub for the movie and I was pleasantly surprised by how entertained I was. It had a perfect mix of comedy and action and I remember liking the movie a lot.

Well now I've seen One Piece: Stampede and it too is another entertaining movie.

This movie however is a love letter to One Piece fans because it celebrates the series' 20th anniversary. There is a lot of old and new characters and most of them have a lot of equal screentime.

Once again the Straw Hat Pirates with Monkey D Luffy are still the main characters and they have all been invited to a special event called the Pirate Festival.

Pretty much every pirate crew from the show's history appears in the event hosted by its organizer Buena Festa.

The purpose of the event is for the first team to get a hold of Gol D. Roger's treasure.

What seems like to be an innocent event, turns nasty because the whole event is a trap. Buena Festa is working with Douglas Bullet and he's out to get revenge on those that have wronged him.

While One Piece Gold was more about comedy and teamwork, One Piece: Stampede feels like a huge action movie from beginning to end.

Once Monkey D Luffy and the other characters face Douglas Bullet, it becomes a really huge battle that pretty much lasts throughout the entire duration of the movie!

There isn't much in terms of story progression, but it's really fun to watch all of the epic fights that takes place in this film.

The fights that Monkey D Luffy and Douglas Bullet take part in are awesome and you will want to root for the good guys to win.

Another thing I liked about the movie is that there is a lot of teamwork that goes on.

Luffy isn't the only character that does all of the work because he has help from a lot of his friends and fellow pirates to defeat their enemies.

This is not like a Dragon Ball Z movie where Goku does all of the work by himself.

As for the animation, One Piece Gold had more 3D effects because the city was supposed to reflect a fictional version of Las Vegas.

One Piece: Stampede has more traditional 2D animation, although 3D effects are used when Douglas Bullet uses a huge mech to fight off the good guys!

Anyway, One Piece: Stampede is a fun movie to watch and I'm glad you are able to follow the story even if you are new to the franchise.

Veteran fans will love it even more with all the characters that are involved, plus the whole film is action packed. This is a highly recommended movie especially if you love anime films!

Verdict: 4/5 stars
