Atlantic recording artist Ed Sheeran's new single "Thinking Out Loud" has skyrocketed to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, earning the acclaimed singer-songwriter the highest charting U.S. single of his career so far.

"Thinking Out Loud" - the third single from Sheeran's chart-topping, RIAA-Gold certified album "x" (pronounced multiply) - follows back-to-back RIAA-certified Platinum singles "Sing" and "Don't" which respectively peaked at #13 and #9 on the Hot 100; Sheeran's 2012 multiplatinum, breakout hit "The A Team" peaked at #16 on the chart.

Already a global smash, "Thinking Out Loud" has gone to #1 in 6 countries around the world, including his native United Kingdom.

Already a 3x-GRAMMY nominee, Sheeran recently received three more nominations for the 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards, including nods for "x" in the categories of "Best Pop Vocal Album" and the highly coveted "Album of the Year." Sheeran's song "I See Fire" from the feature film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug also received a nomination for "Best Song Written For Visual Media." Sheeran's previous GRAMMY nominations include nods for "Best New Artist" and "Song of the Year." Earlier this week, Sheeran took home the award for "British Artist of the Year" at the inaugural BBC Music Awards in London, beating out a credible group of nominees that included the legendary David Bowie and rising star Sam Smith, among others.

Stateside, Sheeran is also currently nominated for the 2015 People's Choice Awards in the categories of "Favorite Male Artist" and "Favorite Album."

In addition to recently being named one of Billboard's Top 10 Albums of 2014, "x" is also one of the year's most successful releases, topping the iTunes charts in 83 territories and going to #1 in 14 countries around the world, including the United States and United Kingdom, where the multiplatinum collection is also the biggest and fastest selling album of the year.

Sheeran is currently in the midst of a worldwide headlining tour which has already sold out arenas all over the globe, including 4 nights at London's O2 Arena.

The tour will conclude with 3 sold out shows at London's Wembley Stadium next summer. Look for more to come from Sheeran in 2015, for there's no stopping the momentum of this alternative artist.
