Dragonball Xenoverse, a video game scheduled for release in 2015, is creating a buzz on Twitter.

Since the release of Dragonball Z: Budokai in 2002, there has been an array of games based on the popular anime series.

But the formula has been similar in each release; the player takes control of a character and recreates iconic events from the series.

And, critics have greeted each release with fluctuating reception; Dragonball Z for Kinect was panned. In addition, critics regarded Dragonball Z: Battle of Z--the franchise's most recent video game title--as mediocre.

In contrast, gamers enjoyed titles like Dragonball Z: Budokai 3, which achieved critical success.

Bandai Namco, however, looks determined to change the image of Dragonball video games on the next generation consoles.

Xenoverse allows players to create their own character. According to Bandai Namco's website, players will choose from four races: Earthling, Namekian, Majin, and--undoubtedly the most popular--Saiyan.

With their custom character, players will travel through the Dragonball timeline and intervene in legendary fights from the series.

Unlike past Dragonball games, Xenoverse will feature a hub world that players can explore.

Called Toki Toki City, Bandai Namco speaks ominously about the location's role in the game. The publisher states on their website,"A clock that once had stopped will start to tick again in the enigmatic and futuristic Toki Toki City!"

Scheduled for release in 2015, Dragonball Xenoverse will be available for the: Playstation 4, Xbox One, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
