It has been 54 long years since the original Mary Poppins starring Julie Andrews in the main role came out. However, now a new movie starring Emily Blunt will be out later this year called 'Mary Poppins Returns'.

Mary Poppins Returns is not a remake or a reboot because the new movie is actually a sequel.

The only change that has been made is that the characters are a little older and they're all being played by different actors.

Anyway, Disney released the first trailer for the film and it looks like the movie studio wants to capture the atmosphere of the first movie. You can read a short synopsis for the movie posted down below.

"In Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns,” an all new original musical and sequel, Mary Poppins is back to help the next generation of the Banks family find the joy and wonder missing in their lives following a personal loss. Emily Blunt stars as the practically-perfect nanny with unique magical skills who can turn any ordinary task into an unforgettable, fantastic adventure and Lin-Manuel Miranda plays her friend Jack, an optimistic street lamplighter who helps bring light—and life—to the streets of London."

The movie will be out in North America on December 19th, 2018 just in time for the Christmas season. Disney has high hopes the movie will make a lot of money with families that grew up watching the original.

Below is the first trailer that has been released for the movie thus far. Do you think this sequel has the potential to be successful?
