Bruce Willis used to be one of the biggest action heroes in Hollywood, but in recent years his star power has started to fade away.

His latest movie is a 2018 remake of the 1974 classic Death Wish and it appears modern audiences are not impressed with revenge stories anymore.

Due to all of the political debate about guns in America lately, the glorified use of taking justice into your own hands is very bad timing.

This played a key role on why many critics feel this film should not have been made, or at least get delayed as the timing of its release is really bad.

As of time of writing, the current Rotten Tomatoes rating for the Death Wish remake is a dismal 15 percent. You can read the critical consensus for the film posted down below.

" Death Wish is little more than a rote retelling that lacks the grit and conviction of the original -- and also suffers from spectacularly bad timing."

The average score for the film is a very low 3.7/10 which indicates many reviewers settled on a score of 2/5 stars. 39 reviews have been collected on Rotten Tomatoes so far with 33 of them being negative compared to only six being positive.

In comparison, the 1974 original starring Charles Bronson fares a lot better on Rotten Tomatoes with a rating of 65 percent. The so-so reviews for the remake are sure to affect the film's Box Office performance this upcoming weekend.

Aside from competing with the third weekend of Black Panther, the film is also up against Red Sparrow which is another new action movie starring Jennifer Lawrence.

Both Red Sparrow and Death Wish are racing to see who can become second this weekend behind Black Panther.
