James Blake first stepped into the indie spotlight with his 2013 album "Overgrown".

Very much a child of the underground electronic scene, Blake's recent announcement, that he will be collaborating with the mainstream hip-hop producer Kanye West, may seem interesting, if not downright strange. In context, however, this is not out of character for Blake, who has collaborated with hip-hop superstars RZA and Chance the Rapper in the past.

In addition to that, Kanye West is a big fan of Blake and has previously called him his "favorite artist".

Still, it's hard to make out what exactly to expect from a collaboration between these two musicians. While both are certainly talented and accomplished in their own respects, their personalities are almost entirely opposite. Blake's quirkiness and laid-back attitude shines through in both his music and his interviews.

West, on the other hand, has made a name for himself for his over-the-top, grandiose personality.

James Blake's music is lauded for being heartfelt and lush, yet incredibly idiosyncratic.

It will be interesting to see if he'll be able to maintain this distinctive style while working with the Kanye West, who seems to have enough idiosyncrasies of his own.
