'Chuck' Star Zachary Levi To Star In The Shazam Movie

DC and New Line. have been searching for a lead actor to play Shazam for many months now. Well it looks like they finally found the actor they wanted. It's none other than former star of 'Chuck' Zachary Levi.

According to an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, Zachary Levi is playing the main character of Billy Batson.

Billy Batson is actually a kid who can transform into the heroic adult of Shazam. He is pretty much a powerful hero much like Superman.

It's possible the studio will be using some advanced CGI techniques in order to make Zachary Levi both a kid and an adult in the film. The movie is set to the most light-hearted DC film released to date.

It is being directed by David F. Sandberg.

Due to the light-hearted nature of the film, Zachary Levi is an appropriate choice since he starred in the comedy called 'Chuck'. Interestingly enough, he is also a part of the MCU starring as the character of Fandral in both Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok.

He's not the only actor to be in both DC and Marvel films. Laurence Fishburne is also in DC Films as Perry White and will star in Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Other actors considered for the role included Limitless star Jake McDorman and even WWE Superstar John Cena.

With Cena no longer in the movie, he should be available for WrestleMania 34 season. Shazam is reportedly going to be shot between February 2018 until May 2018.

A villain for the first Shazam movie has yet to be announced. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is playing a villain called 'Black Adam' but he won't be introduced until a solo Black Adam movie is made.
