Chris Evans was initially contracted to only appear in six MCU movies before he was done playing Captain America.

Now Evans has given a reason why he's staying on for at least one more movie to appear in the fourth Avengers movie out in 2019.

Evans gave his reasons during an interview with the Telegraph. It seems as if he didn't want the character of Captain America to leave the franchise too early.

After all, Infinity War is not going to be standalone movie so he will need to come back to conclude the story. You can read his comments on the matter below.

I had six films in my Marvel contract, so I could have said after the third Avengers I was done, but they wanted to make the third and fourth Avengers films as a two-parter, They said they had so many other characters to fit in, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and couldn't get them all into one movie. (I came back) because it made sense. It's going to wrap everything up

It's interesting to note that his comments say that not every character will be able to fit into the movies. It's possible some characters will only appear in Infinity War while the rest of them will join in later for the untitled fourth Avengers movie.

The two-parter potentially could have the biggest cast of all time. There has never been a movie that features so many stars and characters.

The fourth Avengers film is likely going to be the last time we will see Chris Evans playing the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America.

Once phase 4 comes in, Marvel is more than likely going to focus more on a set of new characters and actors.
